Machinima (or machine cinematography) is filmmaking within real-time, 3D virtual scenes using 3D video game engine methods. Machinema combines real-world filmmaking techniques, animation production and real-time 3D game engines applied within an interactive virtual space where 3D characters and events can be either controlled by human beings, programming scripts or artificial intelligence. Machinima is a very cost- and time-efficient method to create videos or films with much creative control.
